BSU SSW Racial Justice Council Resource Guide

Upcoming Trainings and Events

De-centering Whiteness Zoom Workshop Series: January 24, January 31, February 7, February 21 from 3:00-5:00PM

In order to move towards racial justice, we must take concrete and consistent action against racism. Please join the upcoming four-session series of virtual conversations that will emphasize the ways in which we can decenter whiteness and centralize racially equitable tenets and practices in our work. These sessions will feature readings, videos, and discussions focused on ways that we can educate ourselves, hold ourselves accountable, and activate in order to help dismantle racism. The sessions will be limited to 12 participants, with the request that they commit to all 4 sessions in the series. While any member of the BSU community is most welcome to attend, this training is intended to build on the learning accomplished in the Unlearning Racism Workshop series.

As a result of this workshop series participants will:
a) Explore the ways in which whiteness informs society as well as higher education practices.
b) Develop additional strategies in our work as anti-racists.
c) Apply some of these strategies to our current work at BSU.

Intended audience: Faculty, librarians, staff and administrators

Facilitators: Sabrina Gentlewarrior, Barbara Bond, Julia Mauro
