Meet Our Library Staff
I am Herbie Pollard, one of the archivists here at the Maxwell Library. Prior to working here at Bridgewater, I was Librarian and Archivist at Bard College at Simon’s Rock, and have worked at college libraries in Texas and New York City. My area of scholarly expertise is history of science and education, and I wrote my master’s thesis on nineteenth-century American physicians and navel surgeons who collected objects of natural history throughout the Americas. I’m always interested in stories of plants, animals, and objects that have traveled the world. It has been exciting living in New England, a historical hub for the trade of exotic curiosities. In my spare time, you can find me reading books about maritime history or visiting many of the fine museums of Massachusetts.
