The Research Librarians are located on the 1st Floor of the Maxwell Library. They are there to assist students and faculty navigate the library website to find resources which includes, books, articles, videos and other resources to help you with your research topics and papers.

Advanced Search

Maxwell Library uses the Library of Congress Classification System. To locate your book in the General Collection look at the first letter of the call number. If it begins with the letter A-L, it will be on the second floor. If it starts with the letters M-Z, it will be on the third floor. Reference Books and periodicals are located on the first floor and may not be checked out.

Locating Items in Maxwell Library

  • Reference materials and audio CDs can be found on the 1st floor of Maxwell Library.
  • Books in the A-L call number ranges are located on the 2nd floor of Maxwell Library.
  • Books in the M-Z call number ranges are located on the 3rd floor of Maxwell Library.
  • DVDs are located on the first floor of the library near reference.

Academic Achievement Center

Academic Coaching and Research Services

Academic Coaching and Research Services are located on the ground floor of the Maxwell Library within Academic Achievement Center. Academic Coaches assist students:

  • Goal-setting and Motivation
  • Time/Task Management
  • Active Learning Strategies (note-taking, test prep, reading comprehension)
  • Communicating with Professors
  • Research & Library Navigation Assistance
  • Campus Resources and Referrals

Second Language Services

The Second Language Services is also located on the ground floor of the Maxwell Library within the Academic Achievement Center. These are services for students who are English language learners, such as International students and Bilingual students. You are assigned a personal tutor to help you with:

  • Writing and Grammar Skills
  • Reading Comprehension
  • Informal Conversation
  • Discussion Confidence 
  • Essays and Research Projects
