ACS

This 3rd edition (2006) of the American Chemical Society Style Guide is the definitive source for all information needed to write, review, submit, and edit scholarly and scientific manuscripts. Although a basic resource for the chemistry community, The ACS Style Guide is also used in other scientific disciplines as a guide to effectively communicate scientific information.

AMA Style

Developed by the American Medical Association, this citation format is used not only by various medical disciplines but also for public health, nutrition, and athletic training.  AMA uses superscript numbers in text; the full information concerning the source is found in the References list.

ASA Style

OWL at Purdue University has a helpful online handout for ASA style:

CSE Style

Formerly known as the CBE style, this style format was developed by the Council of Science Editors. It is the preferred format for publications in the physical and life sciences.  The 8th edition of the style guide lists three types of documentation.
