Finding Statistics and Data
What is the difference between Data and Statistics?
The two terms are sometimes used interchangeably but to most academics and researchers data is raw information while statistics provide interpretation and summary. Data or data sets are primary sources that are often found through research studies or surveys and are used to gain new information. Statistics can also be defined as the collection, organization, interpretation and analysis of data. Statistics are often found in tables, graphs, and charts.
